Marketing Monday

What caught my eye this week? An alluring Apple spot for the new iPhone 7, two brands that demonstrated they care in truly magnanimous ways and the implementation of artificial intelligence in social media.

This spot lures you by showing the addictive quality of taking pictures with the iPhone 7’s new low-light capabilities via Adweek. My favorite scene was with the deer. It reminded me of the moments when I wanted to capture the moose, deer and wild turkeys who showed up in my parents’ yard.

The quick thinking of The Standard hotel in the aftermath of the bombing in New York this weekend. There’s something reassuring when you see a brand show it has a soul and compassion for others. I’m sure karma will reward them for it.

Let the record show, I will be grieving the Red Sox’ loss of Big Papi, David Ortiz, when he retires at the end of the season. Until then, it’s a bit like Christmas watching all the creative ways people are showering him with gifts of appreciation. This was one of my favorites. “LEGO made a life-sized version of Big Papi out of 34,510 blocks” via SB Nation.com. I can’t think of a better way to honor the player and the brand with smart product placement.
