#MoreThanMiles

What caught my eye this week? Hashtags. Lots of smart, intriguing hashtags. #PhelpsFace, #MoreThanMiles, #shatteringstereotypes. Plus, a little something to help you with your own hashtag marketing strategy. And the work of an amazing designer who created the logo for the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games. Check it out:

I spotted this #MoreThanMiles hashtag in the Lulumon’s store window at the Irvine Spectrum last Friday. And it really resonated with me. This hashtag is the perfect live-in-the-moment statement to help us focus more on the emotional benefits of working out and less on the data driven metrics of time and distance.

“Rio’s Biggest Moments Around the Pool Help Attract Swimming’s Future Stars” via Adweek. There’s no doubt about it. USA Swimming’s getting a ton of yardage out of #phelpsface. My favorite take on this infamous hashtag can be found on my buddy’s blog Steven in a Speedo?! Gross! “The Best of #PhelpsFace.”

And if you’ve ever dreamed of being a part of the Olympics on the creative side, you’ll want to read “Peek Inside The Notebooks of a Legendary Logo Designer” via Fast Company Design.

With all the fantastic coverage of the Olympics, it’s hard to get back to work. But we have to earn that couch time, right? If you need any help getting it all done, you can connect with me at ameliaostroff@gmail.com.
