Marketing Monday

This week’s Marketing Monday features an ad agency’s robot designed to take on Usain Bolt, a fierce competition for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics logo, a new way of displaying graphics on ice, best-selling author and marketer Seth Godin’s new podcast, and some more portfolio tips to ponder.

Who wants to race a robot? Ad agency J. Walter Thompson New York helped Puma create the BeatBot, a programmable, self-driving, line-following robot that’s as fast as Usain Bolt. Gotta love a story that pairs three of my favorite things: advertising, technology, and running.

Speaking of Olympians, I also came across this story on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics logo. I don’t know, but with 15,000 contenders, this competition may have been more competitive than the actual Games.

And this one on the National Hockey League shows the lengths designers will go to solve a problem. The challenge: how to make graphics last when they’re constantly getting covered up by scratching from skate blades. After much trial and error, they found a way. And in this instance, they had no problem making the logo bigger.

Best-selling author, prolific blogger and marketer Seth Godin now has a new season of his podcast called “Creative Mornings.” Personally, I can’t wait to check it out on my next jog on the beach. You can check it out here.

And finally, 7 must-know pieces of portfolio theory from Creative Bloq. It gives some great guidelines to keep in mind when you’re launching or updating your website. How did I do? You can check out my work here and here.

There you have it. Some inspiration for your own creative and marketing thinking this week. Do you have one to share? Drop me a line at me@ameliaostroff.com or leave a comment. And if you need any help with a project, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Have a great week!
